Cambridge isn’t just about Colleges and the University. In fact Cambridge was a thriving town long before some scholars stumbled upon it as they fled a troubled Oxford University.
At one time Cambridge was more famous for its annual Stourbridge fair, than for it’s Quads and lawns.
This blog aims to fill you in on the story of the town, not gown – although it is sometime hard to extricate the two. The author of this blog is also responsible for ‘The Spinning House’ a book telling the true story of how Cambridge University used to lock up women suspected of ‘evil’ – a very chilling tale.
Enjoy
